I like "real" people, not Pretentious ones (you know who you are). I enjoy skiing, golfing, The America's Cup and accounts of bravery (like the Alamo), the movie "300", and my all time favorite movie Patton. The Flying Tigers, good music and good Stumblers. So coming from Maine, it is the simple things that give me pleasure. As far as my avatar goes, I guess this is the real me.

Douglas MacArthur, A controversial figure forsure maybe, but a leader of men like no other, that's for sure "old soldiers never die; they just fade away",and like the old soldier of that ballad, I now close my military career and just fade away, an old soldier who tried to do his duty as God gave him the light to see that duty".
Good Bye

As someone that enjoys history and the people that made it, you have to give this man his due. Much as been written about him good or bad, but know matter what you think, he was a brilliant tank commander and leader of men. Erwin Rommel aka the "Desert Fox". A good read, but not for all.
Patton: [referring to Rommel's book, 'Infantry Attacks' or 'Infanterie greift an'] Rommel... you magnificent bastard, *I read your book*!
